To open accounts for a business, we verify the business and the people who own it. Every business type needs the same documents: Business Name, Company, Incorporated Trustees, Limited Partnership and Limited Liability Partnership.
- Go to Accounts, select Open banking account (or Open account for new entity), then choose Business.
- Enter your registration number and business type. We look the business up at the CAC and fill in its details.
- Add every director or owner with 10% or more of the business, up to 10 people. Each person needs their BVN, NIN, date of birth, shareholding, address, electricity meter number and distribution company. The law requires banks to know who owns and controls a business, and those are the people we verify.
- Upload the documents below, then select Submit application.
| Document | What it is | Why we need it |
|---|---|---|
| CAC certificate | Your certificate of registration from the Corporate Affairs Commission | Proves the business is legally registered |
| TIN certificate | Your business Tax Identification Number | Confirms the business is registered for tax |
| MEMART | Memorandum and Articles of Association | Shows who owns the business and who can act for it |
| Utility bill | A recent bill for the business address | Confirms where the business operates |
| SCUML certificate | Registration with the Special Control Unit against Money Laundering | Real estate businesses are required to register with SCUML, and banks must check it |
| Board resolution | A signed decision by the directors to open the account. Use our board resolution template | Shows the business has authorised the account and who can operate it |
Each file can be JPEG, PNG or PDF, up to 5 MB.
